Do medical aids pay for our services?

Medical aids do recognise midwives as a profession, and will pay Board of Health Care Funders (BHF) rates. Our rates however are higher than these and each situation is authorised on its own merit. We do strongly urge our clients to call on their medical aids to find out exactly what is covered, and estimate what the shortfall may be.

Like most medical practitioners we do request patients to pay at each antenatal consultation, and settle with their medical aid independently. In the instance of deliveries, we invoice soon afterwards and require settlement within 30 days of invoice.
