Sr Glynnis Garrod received a Diploma in Nursing Science, Community Health, Psychiatric Nursing and Midwifery from Carinus College in 1990.

She worked at the Groote Schuur Hospital in the labour ward and theatre until the beginning of 1999, gaining a Chief Professional Nurses post. She joined Kate Christie to start Birth Options, an Independent Midwives' practice.
